Medan - FKM USU: Master Program in Public Health Science of FKM USU students held Field Learning Practise activities with a focus on the problem of helminthiasis at SD Negeri 091358 Kec. Haranggaol Horisan, on Thursday and Friday (30 and 31 May 2024). The target of this activity was 164 students from grades 1 to 5. The PBL carried out by Master's students was a series of learning processes in the "Disaster Management" course. According to Prof. Dr. Ida Yustina, M. Si, as the lecturer, stated that the helminthiasis outbreak is a form of non-natural disaster that needs to be prevented. "Children who are still attending elementary school like this need to receive education to pay attention to their personal hygiene so they can avoid helminthiasis," said Prof. Ida that present at the activity along with Vice Dean III FKM USU Ir. Etti Sudaryati M.K.M., Ph. D, Chair of Master Program in Public Health Science of FKM USU , Dra. Nurmaini, M.K.M, Ph. D and Adjunct Professor Prof. Dr. Aniza Binti Ismail from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Principal of SD Negeri 091358 Jonni Sipayung, S. Pd, the Head of the Haranggaol Community Health Center, Dr. Sunarlina Saragih, MKM, and P2P staff of the District Health Service. Simalungun were also present at the activity. The activities carried out by students include examining students' feces to identify helminthiasis, providing education about personal and environmental hygiene, healthy food, and the practice of washing hands with soap. Apart from that, master students also carried out dental and oral health examinations on the children, the results showed that many of them had dental caries.
